final pattern- based on the Nintendo 3DS XL sketch from my previous post.
first attempt at removing the plaster- it crumbled as soon as I started to remove the plaster from the board.
reapplying the pattern to the wood- it was nice to sit outside and enjoy making some art. My boyfriend sat across from me and read a book to me while I worked. My dog curled up at his feet and waited for us to tell her we were ready to go inside. The plaster was messy, but it was much easier to clean up outside than inside.
removed plaster from pattern- it still crumbled a bit, but it came off much smoother than the first attempt, and I was extremely happy with the result.
Nice progression, Jaden. Do you have any thoughts about what happened to the first one? Was it too thin and delicate? Did it not set up long enough? Was the plaster just extra brittle? The second version came out great- nice detail, that little corner can clean up ok. You can avoid casting any media that are super runny, and should be ok. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI think the first attempt to plaster didn’t have enough vaseline to remove it cleanly. Luckily it didn’t stick so bad that it ripped the pattern.
