I like the texture, which was embroidery thread dipped in plaster. It gave a little bit more to the form, as it was just smooth with some divots. I wish I were still in class with my friends, it makes it a bit harder to enjoy something that's supposed to make people laugh, when no one's here to laugh at it.
The paint job isn't the best, as the paint I had available to me wasn't the best at sticking to a surface like plaster. I'm still proud of myself for doing something new, and making something that I originally saw in my head.
My parents would have been the same way, Lol! The texture if cool, I like that idea!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I laughed when I first saw this. I love the idea! Don't let your parents get you down. I love the texture because it kind of looks like hair which made me laugh more. The lines in your form really help move my eyes through it. I think this is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Deletei absolutely love this and i agree with Reagan FANTASTIC JOB!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThe sculpture has a great balance to it. The massive volume at the bottom of the sculpture creates repetition and balance. The line that has been created throughout, really carries the eyes through the piece. The texture on the piece captures light and gives it depth.
ReplyDeleteThank you, James!
DeleteHi, Jaden! I was so surprised when I clicked on this – in the best possible way. I love the concept, and your execution of it was incredible. The bright pink color palette complements the form well, and the ribbed texture follows the form in an effective manner. I hope you continue to create art with the mindset of making others laugh – despite the negative reaction from your parents.
ReplyDeleteI really like the difference between the texture on the top portion and the texture on the bottom portion.

ReplyDeleteThe laugh was well appreciated! I really like the paint colors. They really help add texture and depth to the interesting form 😂
ReplyDeleteI think this is hilarious, the color works so well with the subject matter. I think you really nailed it.
ReplyDeleteHey Jaden- it is funny! Being away from the class is challenging. The texture is interesting- I think creating two contrasting sides (with some transition on the base) was an interesting decision- it's almost 2 different pieces. That little bit of transition between the two helps it not seem jarring. The color choice is effective- maybe some brighter highlights to amplify the dimensionality of the form, and some more nuance to the color transitions to help the eye flow. Did you consider dry brushing over parts of your texture, to help pop it from the background? Could help that side have more volume- the uniform color throughout kind of flattens it a bit. I know plaster can be a frustrating material to paint. But you made ti happen!
ReplyDeleteI ended up going over the form with a white paint marker and I like it a lot more! Great minds think alike! :)
